2009 Award Recipients
The Chair of the Scholarship Fund, COL Russ Henderson, presented Scholarship Fund grants to eight deserving cadets at the May dinner meeting. The Selection Committee was greatly impressed by the outstanding achievements, poise, and confidence of each of the cadets interviewed. Each cadet demonstrates tremendous promise as a future officer of the United States of America. This year eight outstanding cadets were awarded total of $10,500. Listed is the name of the cadet, high school, award amount, and school he/she will attend in the fall:

Seated:

Cadet Nicole Gailliot, Mount Vernon High School, $1,500, Louisiana State University

Cadet Julia McCullohs, West Potomac HighSchool, $1,500, The Citadel

Cadet Nicholas Shipley, Stonewall Jackson High School, $1,000, Indiana State University

Standing:

Cadet Christopher Retsch, Hayfield Secondary School, $1,000, U.S. Military Academy, West Point Class of 2013.

Cadet Philip Hurst, Thomas A. Edison High School, $1,500, George Mason University

Cadet Collin Hayward, Gar-Field Senior High School, $1,500, Virginia Tech University

Cadet Zaquero Harnett, C.D. Hylton High School, $1,000, Virginia Military Institute

Cadet Timothy J. Flanagan II, Quantico Middle/High School, $1,500, U.S. Naval Academy.


We are encouraged by the quality of this year’s scholarship recipients. We are also proud of our chapter members who regularly contribute to the fund, keeping it strong so that each year we are able to support future officers.
